In Western culture, zodiac signs are deeply rooted as part of one’s identity.
In the Sora no Hikari Zodiac Poster Series, I combined this familiar concept with Japanese culture, expressed through calligraphy art and the beauty of the Japanese language.
My hope is that the harmony of Japanese words and minimalist design brings a new perspective to your interior space.
The Meaning Behind Each Zodiac
- Aries
Poem: “The golden ram runs through the spring night sky, symbolizing adventure and beginnings.”
Aries marks the very first sign of the zodiac and belongs to the fire element.
Its keywords are “adventure” and “beginnings,” expressed with the vigor and passion of springtime.
- Taurus
Poem: “The bull stands firmly on the earth, a symbol of abundance and love.”
Taurus represents stability, richness, and prosperity.
I chose to express this symbolism with simple, unadorned words.
- Gemini
Poem: “The twin stars bound by a strong bond, a constellation of friendship and brotherhood.”
Gemini symbolizes exchange and intelligence.
By highlighting the bonds of siblings and friends, I wanted to convey connection and communication.
- Cancer
Poem: “The small crab fought bravely, a constellation symbolizing devotion and protection.”
The crab’s symbol looks like outstretched arms trying to protect something.
From this image, I emphasized the ideas of devotion and protection.
- Leo
Poem: “The roaring lion, a constellation of courage and regal dignity.”
Leo, ruled by the Sun, represents leadership and self-expression.
I captured its majestic presence through the image of a lion’s powerful roar.
- Virgo
Poem: “The maiden holding a sheaf of wheat, a constellation bestowing purity and abundance.”
Virgo represents purity and harvest.
With the wheat in her hand, I expressed both “fruitfulness” and “sincerity,” while also reflecting healing and service.
- Libra
Poem: “The balanced scales, a constellation reflecting harmony and justice.”
Libra symbolizes balance and fairness.
Through the symmetry of the scales, I aimed to express equilibrium and beauty.
- Scorpio
Poem: “The stinger glowing in the dark, a constellation of passion and rebirth.”
Scorpio governs deep passion and transformation.
I tried to capture both its danger and beauty, evoking intensity and renewal.
- Sagittarius
Poem: “The centaur drawing his bow, a constellation symbolizing exploration and freedom.”
Sagittarius embodies freedom and adventure.
The act of releasing an arrow represents the will to move forward, along with boundless curiosity.
- Capricorn
Poem: “The goat that bridges land and sea, a constellation of perseverance and ambition.”
Capricorn symbolizes effort and the drive to reach the summit.
Its mythical figure traveling between mountain and sea reflects both endurance and aspiration.
- Aquarius
Poem: “The water of stars flows from the vessel, a constellation reflecting freedom and ideals.”
Aquarius symbolizes innovation and vision.
The flowing water reminded me of expansion into the future, expressing both freedom and originality.
- Pisces
Poem: “Two fish swim closely together, a constellation of love and empathy.”
Pisces represents compassion and healing.
The two fish swimming side by side reflect tenderness, connection, and empathy.
Design Philosophy

Inspired by the Japanese concept of “ma” (meaningful emptiness), the posters pursue a calm, minimalist atmosphere.

Designed to blend naturally with Japandi (Japanese + Scandinavian) style and other modern interiors.
Closing Thoughts
The fusion of zodiac identity and Japanese calligraphy may be a little unusual as artwork, but that is exactly why I find meaning in it.
Through familiar concepts in Western culture expressed with Japanese aesthetics, I hope to share something new and heartfelt.
